Looks like it arrives next week!

Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooo much :)

I'm flying back to the UK tomorrow to empty our just sold house and bring the family across :) Guess what day we are all arriving back in Calgary??

Anyone know of any covered long term airport parking in Calgary. The last thing that I want is to have to excavate the car to get home after the flight

I think all the long term airport parking at the airport is covered.

Have fun on Cochrane Hill! :D

Covered parking in the airport parkade costs $14.00 per day. There are two companies that offer long term, open parking. They are Park & Jet, which costs $7.75 per day and Park 'n Fly, which costs $8.95 per day. Park & Jet and Park 'n Fly operate shuttle services that ferry their passengers from their respective parking lots to the airport terminal and back again.

Don't worry, Posidrive, Calgary rarely gets enough snow to force you to "excavate" your car after it's been parked in one spot for a week or two. If the weather is cold enough for long enough, if your car has not been used for long enough, and especially if your car has an older battery, you might have difficulty starting it. But that would be as true in the parkade as it is in the open parking lot, since the parkade doesn't have power outlets as I recall.

Hope you have a successful trip.

Not if you use the "Park and Ride" lots, Park'N Fly and Park & Jet they are much cheaper than the airport parkade but out in the elements. :( However if you do use them they have all the necessary equipment to dig you out if needed. :D

As for the weather outlook, take it with a pinch of salt. They have enough problems getting the next day forecasts correct, let alone 14 days in advance.

Cheers

Fortunately we will have a whole Winter to practice on the flats around Springbank Airport since our house won't be complete until next Summer :)

Was thinking that Cochrane hill would make a good ski slalom course, weaving around the stuck cars.

I can't believe some of the wimps I've seen out on the paths recently, obviously they've not been toughened up by a yorkshire winter.

Take a look at the same link today. It looks like they've put winter off until possibly the 24th. :D

Yep, tell me about it! :D

We got snowed out playing golf about 6 weeks ago in Madden (about 40 clicks north). They forecasted sunny periods with cloud and about 15. A couple of lads turned up in shorts.

We had snow here today. Not a lot; it didn't even settle. It wasn't a welcome sight though. The temperature is dropping fast, which means that I really have to get that outside water line in the basement sorted PDQ. The tap inside the basement drips when turned off, as I discovered a few days ago. As a result, the tap outside is still "live". This is not a good thing. Not at all. Two basement floods in one year is quite enough.

I use the parkade at the airport - works out to $70/week.

I usually fly at stupid times - I fly out at 6:30am or get home at midnight ... the thought of getting a bus out to the parking lot is too much for me.

However ... I can recommend the Chilli's at the airport - they do a good breakfast.

I spent most of the summer in Winnipeg - what I don't get is how the golf ball sized hail managed to ding my car on the two weekdays when it wasn't safely tucked away in the airport parkade during the summer.
