No need to chip, just softmod. It will work with US/Canada games

did you take your uk tv with you or does it work on a tv you've bought over there ? trying to work out what to take at the moment - i don't mind leaving the 3 piece and the dining table and chairs but i'm desperately trying to come up with reasons to take the tv with me !

It would stop the recycling blowing away on the door step!

Put it all on Ebay before you leave and use the proceeds to buy a brand new one with new games (or 2nd hand games from places like Blockbuster and Rogers etc). That way you get a new console and a fresh warranty should anything go wrong and you don't have to mess around chipping and changing things.

I don't understand why people ship electronics over that require conversions and have limitations of use.

All my opinion of course ;)

I totally agree about buying here so as to avoid warranty problems, but it is a problem to replace all the games. We bought our UK PS2 as youngest has a ton of games that we cannot get over here, he has that in his bedroom.

You can still buy PS2 games in Canada. You could also upgrade to a PS3 with the proceeds of a PS2 console/game sale. That way you get a DVD player and a console and a music centre etc.

I'm looking forward to selling all our stuff before we move later this year. New country, new life, new stuff. Brilliant!!! Plus we're not sure of the location, size, shape, or type of accommodation we'll live in longer term so i don't fancy bringing our furniture and TV etc to mess around with storage costs, shipping costs, moving costs, and worrying whether the couch will fit in a room etc etc. I figure the costs of buying fresh won't be a huge difference.

Plus i'm lazy and like buying new things so we'll move with about 6 suitcases between us and build our life around us instead of moving it from one continent to another.
