There are several of them but, being married to an Irish woman, I don't go to plastic paddy bars. She especially hates being in one and hearing "I love your accent, where are you from?".

Tried most curry house's in NS, got fed up of wasting good money on unexciting bland food.
Best curry place hands down is in my own home, the wife's curry, self taught and made from scratch not a jar in sight, from vegetable korma to chicken tikka masala, best homemade onion bhaji's this side of the pond and even that creamy minty sauce, Tandoori Chicken went down really smooth tonight, all washed down with a cold one

I have to say the same applies to Melbourne, Australia. Given the number of Indians that are now living here, the quality of the restaurants are pretty dire. I suppose from the number of shops selling Indian supplies they tend not to visit them.
The best curry I have tried outside Brick Lane in London was around Bradford, which beat any curry house in Brick Lane hands down.
Same goes for Jamaican Food, pretty non existent in Melbourne.

Along the lines of what someone else mentioned, that maybe Canadian curry houses cater to Canadian or real Indian taste buds - greasy, oily (not thick with flour) curry is the norm in the sub-asian continent

Consider finding an English style pub that has curry on the menu (London UK curry grub), that maybe has a Jamie Oliver type Brit cook or someone from Sri Lanka cooking the curry... eh, you just never know

The trouble is that many of us are used to good Indian food another not an Anglised version. I used to live and work in areas with a large Indian, npbangladeshi, Pakistani population and so know what the good and authentic stuff tastes like. Out here in the sticks the choice is limited and Canadianised. The same applies Chinese food.

Now I did find good Indian food in Kingston recently, so only a two hour drive!

I had the buffet at The Host in Richmond Hill today, and thought it`s pretty good.

Did ponder whether you should tip at a buffet though...

India Village in Dundas is decent, there's also a second India Village a couple of miles away in Ancaster, same owner.
