If I recall, and I may be wrong, the poster stated that Britain had massively contributed to the world. I asked him/her in what way and s/he didn't reply. You then gave art as an example. I don't particularly want to get into the whole "is art worth a penny" argument. What I was trying to get across in my previous post is that, whether England or Canada has the better art industry is likely to be irrelevant to anyone living outside of the "West". I would not suggest that art massively contributes to anything except for the bank balances of those that can afford to pay for painting, the cost of which is likely to exceed the cost of a hospital wing, to quote a great Scottish band.

I really didn't want this to turn into a pissing contest about whether or not the UK contributes more than Canada or not, but the assertion that the UK is shite; breeds nothing but chavs; no longer makes anything of value and does not contribute anything to the world is just wrong on every level.
