It's obvious they prefer to spend money on cars and clothes than on diy.

I don't have the stats, but I reckon there are more british films than canadian ones. How many canadian films can you list? (and I don't mean american ones made up here on the cheap)

You're just beating yourself up again over failing in Canada, don't be so hard on yourself. Envy gets you nowhere, just accept what you have and put up with.

A USA/Canada co-production, filmed in Vancouver (Gastown and Spanish Banks Beach). Don't rush out, though. Shyamalam-lite. Not really worth it.

The problem Canadian film has is all the main theatrical distributors are owned by American companies. Priority is given to American films. It's hard for local filmmakers to get distribution even in Canada. And when they do, more often than not the distributor puts the film on at a crappy time or day, with no advertising, so the numbers seem crap, then the distributor has the excuse to pull the plug and put on more US shite like Dogs in Space or whatever.

So I take it that films contribute massively to the world. Great, now I know what to send those starving people when Save the Children runs its next commercial about starving kids in Africa - a Judy Dench boxset

The problem with Canadian films are that they're boring.

Oh come on AC. You are being churlish here and you know it. You asked for an example of what the UK gives to the world and you got one.

If you really want to know what the best thing the UK gives to the world is, it's us brits.
