Acknowledged but that doesn't mean that the entire population is extreme right wing.

Idiots perhaps but not extreme right wing.

The Lougheed government was more about good governance than right wing politics. Unfortunately Ralph Klein was at the opposite end of the spectrum and sticks in peoples minds more because he is a total jackass.

And I acknowledge my lack of sensitivity. It wasn't the main point of my post, just a throwaway at the end. Bad judgement on my part.

I've been here 46 years and yes I have heard those stories. I would say it is rare. Thank the Lord Quebec doesn't have the monopoly on stupidity.

By the way do you speak French? And if you don`t is it easy to survive and work there without a decent level of French?

I feel much the same when people west of Quebec refer to Atlantic Canada as being Hicksville or isolated communities in the middle of nowhere.

Ha! I somehow don't think you'd like Canada. For all its warts, it's extremely open to all sorts of cultures from wherever people happen to arrive from. This may be less true of some rural areas and Alberta. But you wouldn't want to live there anyway.
I lived in Alberta between 2004 and 2005 and I thoroughly enjoyed.

We decided to settle in Toronto this time around because it's more cosmopolitan.

And, I am black.

I speak it like a native, in some respects probably better than a native, but have never quite lost my European French. I went to boarding schools in Paris and Lausanne in the early fifties. It was precisely because of the French element that the family settled here.

It is possible to survive without any French but it is tough. Then again if it is simply English one speaks there is always the Rest of Canada.

Or even the good ole USA.

I have met a few snobs who consider Atlantic Canada as somewhat backward. I have been there often on business trips and do not share that view.

Know that a lot of Latin Americans quite often choose to settle in Quebec because of the ease they have in learning French, its much easier for them than English.

Yes we have many Haitians who speak it anyways and plenty from central America. Not that many from south america though'

Many will speak English too as they are smart enough to realise it is the international lingo.

There are certain practices here that are a tad backward, bordering on the barbaric but, yes, there's a lot of snobbery about.

1 Very good reason to get out the dump called England is the fact the government is lead by the soapy thick Scot.
Who bought the job from the husband of a grinning witch (Blair)

OMG I jes spotted meself a retard and a monster sized one too.

You obviously know nothing about politics in Canada or the vast legacy of bumbling, incompetent, corrupt politicians.

Google this:

BC Ferries scandal here
Nanaimo bingogate
Van der Zalm scandal
Glen Clarks casino shambles here
Glen Clark budget scandal

Just for starters, and that's just one province, one party. You think the others are any different ? Have ever been any different ? If you, you are an idiot. Here's another dickhead. See. Different party, same idiocy.

There is no need for this type of rudeness on here.
I admit i now nothing about Canadian politics so i would not comment on it but i do know about the UK.

As far as i am concerned the UK stinks i was born and bread there so i feel i am free to make what ever comments about the UK as i like.

Corruption was invented in the UK and Blair and his fellow criminals have taken it to a new level. Even local politics is as bad my local council built a new 3 million GB Pound football stadium for a team that gets maybe 100 spectators a week (if the sun is shineing) when there are local school and hospitals being closed down for lack of money.

The biggest problem in the UK is all the freeloaders flooding the country there is no way i am against immigration providing the immigrants are working and paying there way ( like i am in Canada) i would never consider asking the Canadian authorities for free benifits so why should the UK give illegal immigrants everything for free.
As far as i am concerned the illegals in the UK should be left to starve on the streets or be given a row boat to row back across the channel.
