I lived in Pickering. Nice place but has some scruffy areas. I work in Whitby, same again but I really like Whitby. I live in Bowmanville which is 15 minutes from Whitby. They are going to extend the go train here eventually. Bowmanville is a very nice and safe place to live. My next door neighbour just sold his house after being on the market for 4 days. He is moving to a bigger house down the road lol Keep in mind Oshawa has highter property taxes than most of Toronto.

I have lived in the Durham region for 12 years or so and I think it is a nice place to live and a stones throw from Toronto.

So we've got Ajax/Pickering/Whitby and Newmarket on the list for our recce trip.

The realtor has also recommended Aurora. Any opinions?

Aurora is lovely, but a bit expensive, like the rest of the north end. It's a fairly well-to-do area, among rolling hills.
