I think you missed my point that in the 50s-80s many people (our steve and his Dad included) just came and settled in whatever city. I not saying many didnt return, but even with the advent of 'the recci culture' you still see a lot of 'failures'. To say you HAVE to come and check it out is ridiculous, it may be a very good idea to visit first but it isnt an ABSOLUTE necessity.

I've travelled a lot for work and I've spent weeks and sometimes months living in towns and cities around Canada - all I can say is every city is different.

I can also guarantee you'll get a different impression of each city depending where you stay and that's the value of this forum - you can ask people who live there what it's like.

Feel free to disagree, but I doubt anybody can seriously hope to compare two cities until they've lived in both for a reasonable amount of time :(

I have no disagreement with this (and as far as I'm concerned my post didnt suggest I would)

Apologies in advance for my own decaying brain cells - didn't think I was saying you did or that I disagreed with you in any way :)

This is absolute proof that the optimal final purpose for the written medium is wiping one's bum in the absence of loo paper ... somebody just has to invent a way of doing that with web postings.

This is all very unscientific and subjective, but I'd say on balance Calgary is looking pretty good at the moment folks.

It's all down to personal opinions at the end of the day, what works for one person doesn't work for another. I love getting out and exploring the new city i've come to, driving also isn't an issue for me. Whenever we get the chance we are off out exploring all them little surrounding places too.

Life is one big adventure, and I enjoy the ride :)
