Re: Where are you and why are you there?
Hello all...
After I travelled to Canada in 2004/2005 for a year or work I loved the country so much I have wanted to move back since the first day of leaving it!
I live in Alberta for eight months then travelled through America and settle back in Toronto for the remainder of my year visa.
My wife who is Polish and I are looking to immigrate due to the UK just not being what it used to be. I could go on about the negatives about the country but I am all sure you know what I mean.
Would you mind sharing with us 'where you settled and why' please? Could you give us as much information as possible please so we can get to know the place from your own words please? I thought this thread would also appeal to a number of people looking into immigration too.
I loved Alberta but after reading about Ottawa and the area it sounds really nice as well.
Any information would be most appreciated from all. Thank you for your time.
Jason and Beata.

Re: Where are you and why are you there?
And to answer your question:
We're in Vancouver
Came here because my partner got the opportunity to transfer with work (intra-company transfer)
I love Vancouver, it's a gorgeous place. And we live in an amazing part of it (Coal Harbour).
But...it's far from Europe. It's a drag to get back to my home country (it will probably be similar for your wife), and it's really expensive (going to the UK is much cheaper. Could fly via the UK, but then that becomes a bit of a drag). The time difference doesn't help in keeping in touch (add an additional hour for your wife). It's expensive.
Why don't you move to Poland if you need a change? Cheap real estate, cheap food, cheap alcohol, cheap cheese, gorgeous beaches, beautiful lakes and mountains. Not sure what else you'd need?

I came due to work and financial security of sorts....
would i move back to the UK?...yes in a heart beat if the right opportunity came around..but then that would apply to a lot of places in the world.

Canada is just another first world country with the same problems as any other first world country. The Canadians bitch about immigrants, cost of living, unemployment, welfare bums, drugs & alcohol, crime rates and all the rest.
Would I return to Canada one day? Absolutely. Will I? Probably not. My husband and children are happy in Australia (yet another first world country) so this is where we stay.
