Where are you and why are you there?
Hello all...
After I travelled to Canada in 2004/2005 for a year or work I loved the country so much I have wanted to move back since the first day of leaving it!
I live in Alberta for eight months then travelled through America and settle back in Toronto for the remainder of my year visa.
My wife who is Polish and I are looking to immigrate due to the UK just not being what it used to be. I could go on about the negatives about the country but I am all sure you know what I mean.
Would you mind sharing with us 'where you settled and why' please? Could you give us as much information as possible please so we can get to know the place from your own words please? I thought this thread would also appeal to a number of people looking into immigration too.
I loved Alberta but after reading about Ottawa and the area it sounds really nice as well.
Any information would be most appreciated from all. Thank you for your time.
Jason and Beata.

Rural Ontario. Cheap enough property to be able to have room for horses, commutable to places of work.

Came to Ottawa 50 years ago and never left. Great place for bringing up a family. I worked in the high tech industry, retired from General Dynamics 21 years ago.

Thanks for the input people, keep them coming!
GTA? Thanks....
Ottawa looks very nice.... And easily connected with flights in neighbouring cities. Any recommendation on areas to look at for housing? I am a qualified dental technician hoping to get my clinical qualification and open own denture surgery. My partner is a professional job advisor but struggling to find work here so looking into other fields.

Comox, Vancouver Island. Reasons (not prioritized):
1.Temperate climate, rarely any snow or ice.
2. Reasonable property prices.
3. Beautiful environment (5 minutes from ocean, 20 minutes to mountains)
4. Lots of outdoor activities (hiking, camping. sailing, biking, skiiing etc.)
5. Has shops and facilities normally found only in larger towns (Courtenay-Comox serves whole of Comox Valley).
6. Very short distances to travel for shopping etc.
7. Very good bus service.
8. Can bike to most places year round.
9. No pollution (no oil drilling, never had a pulp mill so no long-term dioxan residues in soil c.f. a lot of other places on Vancouver Island).
10. Home owner property grants reducing property taxes by more than a third.
Tried Alberta, Toronto, Winnipeg then did our research and moved here. No regrets.
