Where to live in canada moving from Scotland

Hi guys i was wondering if anyone could give any advice on areas to look at for moving to Canada. My wife is a registered Midwife and we would be looking for a nice family area with schools , day care etc.
I know Canada is a big place but any fellow Scotts who could give me there experiances would be great.

Firstly you have to establish whether or not you would be eligible to move to Canada. I suggest you start here: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Category:Canada

Then you need to find out where or whether midwives are accepted and what qualifications are required as each province is different. Where you live may be dictated by where you can find work.

THEN, if you do find you have a choice, you need to look at various places and see which best suits your individual needs and tastes.

Canada is indeed an astoundingly big place compared to Scotland, with many regional variations, and most people on here will be able to tell you why they like their particular bit, or not, as the case may be, .... but it's easier if we know what you might be looking for as to which is a "nice" place for yourselves.

Then I can still recommend Victoria, but make sure that her qualifications do not involve a further three years training over here, cos they wont tell you until you arrive!

Which areas do you like, and why? They're the most important things.

Ditto Oakville, which is also packed with Scots.

The registration process for Canadian midwifery is quite lengthy and expensive, and as Alberta Rose pointed out there are a few provinces that dont have midwives. I would suggest that she looks at the following websites
