www.cic.gc.ca Dont pay anyone anything until you have fully assessed your options and/or taken up free assements offered by reputable consultants. If skilled worker is an option do the self assesment on the government site and see if you qualify for enough points. Typically it would require a full, documented apprenticeship for a tradesperson to get enough points. Do you have skills that are wanted by employers here? Carpenter / joiner should be able to land a job and come on a work permit or provincial nomination. Skilled worker takes a LONG time if you qualify, PNP is much faster if you can get a place. You dont need a consultant, if you feel comfortable with the paperwork and options, then go ahead on your own. 50+% of cases are DIY. |
Re: where do we start:D
Hi, and welcome.
As the others have said, don't pay up if you don't have to, but you can usually get a free assessment which will highlight if you are likely to have problems. Just don't be taken in by the scare mongering. You should get a feel if what they say might be a real problem for you or just them selling themselves because they say the system is complicated. And if you want to keep in Bazzz's good books take the CAP LOCK off. Of course, you may not care. I hope it all works out for you. |
Re: where do we start:D
Bazzz that was funny! I needed that after the day I've had.
Hi Jamie677 and welcome, Like the other members have said don't pay anything. We started out using a consultant for the assessment and found out we had more than enough points and when they quoted £10,000 from start to finish I said 'no thanks, what ever you can do I can do better' so I did:D I just emailed companies in BC and within 4 days my OH got a job offer. The company called in and paid for the experts to deal with us and our application, they even paid for us to go out to meet them and look at the place. Our application is now being processed through the PNP route, which is great as there is really not much paperwork to complete, in fact no references, contracts very little is required. So the £10,000 saving is going on a shopping spree once we get there! Good luck:thumbsup: |
