Whats wrong or right with the middle
Hey Fellow BEs, we are happily settled in NS, but ive been reading these forums for a while now and there apears to be trends on where people settle.
For instance NS gets lots of airplay as does BC and AB On but what about the middle of the country ie Saskatchewan Manitoba, or the territories NW territory or Yukon, or beyond. Does anyone go there to live and if so what is it like? We would like to retire in the rockies eventually, but its good to hear about other areas of Canada as well. |
Re: Whats wrong or right with the middle
Hubbies going to Yukon for a week to visit a job he is going to be working on.
I'll let you know what he thinks of the place when he comes back. :) |

MB is a paradise that the prairie folk like to keep a secret.

Re: Whats wrong or right with the middle
The nature of skilled worker migration is that work is part of the deal. As far as Im aware most of the flatlanders that post here are either there through family connections, or truck drivers who went there as it was relatively easy to get into canada by the PNP route there...The prarie provinces lack the numbers of available jobs that draw most immigrants to Ontario AB and BC.
The other thing is the popular perception of Canada is mountains and lakes, few people choose to come here for the wide open praries. having said that, whatever it was that got them there, they seem mostly pretty happy with the outcome... All the above is lowest common denomenator speculation of course... |

Stewart I love your attitude :D
It's looking very likely we'll be up in the Yukon for 2.5 months over summer. I can't wait, actually. OH has been up a bunch of times for work and Looooooved it. What he said: highest number of Master's degrees per capita in Canada crawling with Germans/scandinavians. Hot girls  only 25,000 people like BC but everything is stunted by the cold - short little trees, but stunningly beautiful organic farming cool cafes, arts community real outdoor/frontier lifestyle - hunting, fishing etc can be very well paid cos you get extra for going up there I'll let you know what I think! |

We too have a 2000 Shitfire. It only failed to start once and that was because the battery was knackered. The exhaust is falling off, though. That is, apparently, a common problem with Snotfires.
