Re: whats the food like in canada?
You can have all the labeling laws in regards to food but ultimately they will be broken. Whether in canada, Europe, Japan or Australia. Just look at the horse meat scandal in Europe or the thousands of mislabeling scandals in Japan (some of the strictest labeling laws in the world).
As for food in Canada being so much more processed and unhealthy compared to The UK. Both countries have obesity and diabetes problems so obviously people in both countries aren't eating good quality, healthy food.

I have never been to Mexico and this is my only knowledge of 'real' mexican food so I suppose I am on shakye ground, nevertheless those who know more tell me it's pukka.

There's a place less than 15 min walk from me with great real Mexican food, just like the little tiendas I remember from the old days. I think it's called Mann's, but Heidi in the kitchen is definately Mexican. If they had beer they'd know me a lot better! I'll have to go once more before I leave. There are Mexican fruit pickers here, so there's a little Mexican grocery too.

We go south of the border to eat Mexican. There are a lot more Mexicans in Washington State than there are in BC. Even so, I think they serve Mexican food for white people because it is nothing like the food we ate in Mexico.

Perhaps more "research" is needed, I had some authentic Mexican in Oregon (can't remember the town, but it was a "taqueria") and there ought to be some similar places in WA if it has a Mexican population.

Hi! Im new on this forum- im being sponsored by the husband and plan to move to Mississauga in Oct.
I just wanted to say - my experience of grocery shopping has not been that great :/ I cant find things like fat free yoghurt for some reason.
Or ready made nice soups and salads like from M&S or even tesco/sainsburies
Am I looking in the wrong places??
I do enjoy the beer in canada alot! and i think chicken tastes better there.
Also why are there strawberries in everything ????

But worth noting that diabetes rates in Canada are double that of the UK so there does appear to be something in the complaint about healthy eating/healthy food in Canada.

0% fat yoghurt is available in the majority of stores. Salads are available at the ready food counters at the front of the larger stores (such as Fortino's) or with the salad stuff in other ones (like Metro). Cartons of ready made soup are also available.
1st rule of shopping - if you can't find something in the store, ask one of the staff (and hope they understand your accent, lol).
2nd rule of shopping - don't expect it to be like M&S.
