Not that I was a big fan, but you'd think with the distances some people have to travel and with the amount of strip-malls out here, there would be a sort of Argos type store - just a thought.

Home Depot = B&Q down to the Orange Trim and Warehouse design.

There was. Consumer's Distributing, long since gone bust. I suppose Sear's catalogue outlets offer something similar.

I just wanted to add another couple of names into the mix. I buy most of my clothes from Monsoon, Next and Laura Ashley. Does anyone have any idea where I'd find clothes of a similar quality in Canada?

Shame M&S folded it's Canadian operation a long time ago. If they could just do their Food Hall stuff over here it would be bliss!

I'd say the automotive side of CT is certainly equivalent to Halfords, and if you're after auto parts then Part Source and NAPA Autoparts are pretty good.

Costco = Costco, I think. Never been in UK Costco, but would presume it's somewhat similar.

B&Q and similar = Home Depot, Lowes and Rona

Woolworths = Bulk Barn.

Army & Navy = Sears

Fenwicks / Hoopers = The Bay

I agree that Ikea is the same no matter where you are, which is somewhat comforting. I do remember on a trip back to the UK going to the Lakeside Ikea and thought I was back in Toronto and when I got outside I was like "Umm, Where am I? This isn't the Queensway!"

Laura Ashley has a presence in Canada. I thought they just sold wallpaper and curtains but I suppose clothes use much the same materials.

Stock up before you leave and always take an empty suitcase when you go back to the UK for visits. There's loads of other stuff you'll miss...clothes are just one of them.

You've just confirmed my suspicion. I was hoping that there was some gem of a shop hidden away. I'd better get shopping then. Is there nothing online?
