i am one of them people. I like my job so much i changed country to cont being a P.I.

In the uk my local area was, well, the uk. That ment spending all week in a travel lodge or some rat infested cheap london BnB. Here in TO i can continue doin the job i love, and i get to go home in the evenings and get a bigger $$ for the privalage.

Bit selfish i know? Maybe i could say i did it for my kid, but no, purley selfish and monatary reason.

OH was all for it and my lad is very happy here now. So it worked out ok. And yes i get to go home at night and see my family like normal people do, more then like when i was a UK burger dad, weekends only.

I can only agree that this is a problem in the UK unless you can find a stable job close to home. In Toronto, you buy a house and commute to work. I find in the UK, as a contract worker, jobs can come up in any part of the country. It is impractical to move to the area because these days you never know how long the work will last.

I had a dream about living in a nice house close to a job I liked and not having to use public transport to get between the two. I had no great expectations other than that but, to my surprise, I found a whole load of other stuff I liked as well.

My friend emigrated here over twenty years ago and after visiting her several times, I had absolutely no desire to live here. Then I met someone whilst on a visit and I've been here for nearly 8 years.

Nope, not a dream come true. I miss England and especially London and get homesick every time I see a film shot there. I hate the fact that nobody seems to give a damn about what goes on in other countries, or indeed their own country and I honestly do not know one person who is going to vote in the upcoming elections. Canadians seem content to just sit back and let it happen, it's amazing. Look at HST! Unbelievable! How could they complain bitterly to each other, but not try to stop it? There would have been an uprising in England. They may not have got anywhere by doing it, but at least they would have tried. This laid-back approach to everything drives me mad...kids even saunter across the road without looking (honestly).

There are things I like here. I've met nice people (although at first couldn't believe how much they talked about their children and cleaning products) and cottage life during the Summer is quite special. But on the whole, I find it pretty boring and I miss meeting up with mates in the pub just to socialise.

We came on a whim. Got back from annual skiing holiday, fancied the idea of living somewhere we could ski. 2 months later application for LMO in after firm sponsered reccie trip. Came with no huge expectations and don't regret it. We have had and are continuing to have fun and an adventure and earn far more. We are skiing a lot
