What is your back up plan?
Hey everyone! After hearing about a lot of rejections recently, (and thinking the same will happen to us after our 3 years in the skilled worker visa craziness) I am thinking about back up plans.
What would you do if your visa wasn't granted? Is Canada still where you want to be?
I really don't know what to do next! Thoughts of moving within the UK and finally getting my career on track!

If I were you and you have gone for FSW and you still have your application in process if it were refused I would be getting over here on a TWP and applying for PR that way...

We're applying for PR on the spousal route, but if for any reason we were refused then I think we'd sell our house here and try a make a go of it in the UK!
Edit: touch wood.

What I can say is that you don't ever want to live anywhere on a work permit in a place where you want to stay if the odds of getting it renewed or PR status are low.
It can be very depressing and causes a lot of stress.

I would tell them to get stuffed...Canada's loss is the UK's gain.

Spending all the money I'd saved for moving to Canada on alcohol, getting very drunk and making a total tit of myself.
Oh, apparently I do that anyway so time to formulate plan b...

When I've needed an answer in life I've always found it at the bottom of a jar of lager sooner or later.
Alternately just move on with your life in the UK. Alot of opportunity there.

I wonder if it's like people dreaming of their movie/pop/sports idol for years, only to be deflated when they finally meet them, realising they're not what they thought they'd be. Although they may be nice to look at, they're no different to the average joe on a day to day basis and the dream is nearly always better than reality.
Our back up plan was to continue enjoying life in the UK and potentially try living somewhere else within the country for a change of scenery and property affordability. Probably closer to family to enjoy them and so the kids would have the proven positive influence that gives them. We'd have continued having yearly holidays to Canada.

Re: What is your back up plan?
I moved here initially without any residency status, and applied for a TWP after a few months. The back up plan was to move back to the UK. If it had come to that it would have been an expensive process, but if you go into things with your eyes open to the potential problems and pitfalls then you have to make the best of circumstances.
I think pretty much anyone has the opportunity to emigrate here, it boils down to the level of determination you have to make it happen, not just point scoring on an application form. There are plenty of more creative ways to achieve the goal to avoid rejection because of LMO issues or lack of qualifications.
