What we driving in canada ? Any good deals (post covid)
Hi, had a previous ‘bust my lease’ for short term vehicle use few years back. Rather than go via that channel any new /good deals in Ontario to re-ignite the auto Economy (similar to schemes in uk). Can’t see much in red flag deals. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place,
thanks,
BCN

This week I've been driving a 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6. The price of them has fallen somewhat lately but I think that's more "everyone who wants one is dead or can no longer fir into it" rather than Covid.

I drive a 2013 VW Golf Estate TDI. One of the dirty diesel buy backs.
900 kms to a tank, only filled it up twice since March as I've been WFH.

The commuting car is a 2015 Ford C-Max hybrid which cost $20,000 a little over a year ago and, in the 50,000km since, has required servicing and a new set of brakes. It's difficult to imagine a cheaper car to run. I note also that, with a choice of three other vehicles in the garage, the C-Max is always gone.

I drive a 2017 Ford Focus ST. It's manual, it's quick and it's decent on petrol - though I only put 91/93/94 octane gas in it. It's also gotten me a couple "speeding" tickets given Canadians seem to think driving slower is the answer to preventing all car accidents.
Ford usually has good employee pricing this time of year.

Mazda CX3. its quiet, comfy, good on gas, great in the winter, room enough for my dog and my painting gear, The other car is a Mazda CX30 which is bigger, better leg room in the back, bigger boot etc, best for long journeys. Love them both,

2013 Mazda 2, so far its been a good car, reliable with little worked needed beyond the basics like oil changes. We didn't buy it new though, had 40,000 km on it, was an ex-rental but in the 7 years we have had it, its not given us any trouble.
It's a little small leg room wise which is the only issue, well for me, my wife has plenty of leg room....

The C-Max, Ranger and BMW are on one policy for a combined $600/month. The Healey is on an agreed value, limited mileage, policy for $800/year. The BMW is a three season car so I'll take it down to fire and theft coverage for the winter and save a bit on the $600.

I am 21, full G license, 5yrs no claims, 2 minor offences my insurance is $275/mo. My brother is 18 driving a '19 Escape, his is $185/mo with a G2, only 1.5ish years driving experience. Not sure what gives with that, I do have 2 tickets but my insurance was still $250/mo before that.

We have a 2019 Honda CRV... It is a beige cardigan on wheels, it goes well with my beige bungalow in the suburbs. It has a big boot and the Mrs likes it so there is that.... How did I get here? 😢

We pay $123 per month now for insurance, went down like $50 a month moving out of Vancouver.
When I had my scooter was only paying $33 or $34 per month, liability only.
