What Foods Do You Miss From The UK?

Hi all,

just wondering if there are any foods that you really miss that you had in the UK? Do you find it hard to get hold of these in Canada?

Thanks in advance
Tony:)

This has been done before. You can search for the previous threads for all the answers.

You will find "proper" bacon at Canadian Superstore :).

Walmart (if you can brave it that place gets a bad rep!) has instant pudding mix (the butterscotch one is lovely) - it's not angel delight but it's almost as good!

Mr Kiplings cherry bakewells... I *love* those... and haven't found anything similar.

Do you mean the Wiltsure bacon that's over $6 a packet? I've tried that and it's still not the same... :D

Proper picked onions in malt vinegar. Same with picked eggs.

Mostly though you can work around stuff, but the big thing l miss is the huge selection of things you get in UK supermarkets compared to the narrow range in Canadian ones.

Just a word of warning for those in Albertaland, Angel delight doesn't work so well here - OH's Mum brought some for OH a few years ago and it just didn't set right, stayed a bit runny:( Y'know for those of you that have just remembered Angel Delight and was thinking of getting some sent over;)

And as Alan says it's the selection we miss more than anything oh and proper cream cakes, my sister would love to tell you all about my meltdown in Tescos this year:rofl:

If you can recommend any alternative then I'm all ears!

A fried egg, fried sausage, and bacon all served in a French bread from a cam-opened van on a side road in an industrial estate. Or a meat pie in a foil tin that has gloops of white fat when you eat it cold.

Stuff of the Gods.

Otherwise I have never had any problem buying anything I want to eat.
