What does Transcript mean....?

I am filling in our PR application forms and have found this....

"Transcripts: original transcripts of all degrees must be submitted in university sealed envelopes"

What does this mean?

Re: What does Transcript mean....?

Means a breakdown of what modules/exams you did and what score you got....

You probably had one at the time but have long since forgotten about it. Your university will be able to provide one - but make sure you request that it is sealed (ask for two if you want to look at one yourself).

Some people don't bother sending sealed ones and have gotten away with it....

My goodness I have read the what to send form over and over again and never noticed this...POOOOOOOOOO. I have to have my papers in my 2nd March and that is looking highly unlikely now. Am I allowed to ask for an extension?

That's a month from now. Get on the phone and tell your Uni it's urgent.

Wow, you have to supply that now? I'm sure we didn't when we applied.

I am sure I have noticed it each time I read the "what you need" form but for some unknown reason decided it didn't apply to us...quite why I decided this I have no idea!

This is one time when I will admit to a blonde moment.

Didn't know what transcripts were. Didn't know this site. Sent in notarised copies of degree certificates. No problems at all.

(have since had to get transcripts for teaching registration - they turned it round really quickly, had them via post to canada in a few days).

Oh really? If I send in our application with a couple of things "to follow" what will they do? Just throw it all in the bin, or allow me to proceed?

Re: What does Transcript mean....?

I'm really not sure. I certainly didn't have any problem with mine at all - they didn't mention it or ask for any clarification despite having only copies of degree certs (not even in an envelope!). However, whether they would do that for another application I don't know - might just depend on the person reading your application. We already had our PNP as well, so don't know if that affected it at all or the fact that OH was our principal applicant.

Try phoning your university records office in the morning, they are used to these requests. If you need a contact at Stirling or Aberdeen University, I can give you e-mails and phone numbers!

i would just send your degree certificate and play dumb, if they want to see a transcript, you'll get more time to provide it....

Yeah I think I will work to that plan...at least hopefully by the time they ask for them, I will have my hands on them!

FWIW I only sent copies of the degree certificates. But that was 35 years ago, so don't count on the rules being the same now.

Thing is the University only guarantees transcripts for the last 7 years...and we are requesting one from 10 years ago, so they probably don't have it anyway!

Re: What does Transcript mean....?

I submitted my transcripts when we applied (even though almost 20 years had passed for some of them). They arrived quickly, and I think it cost £10 for each one. Not too much to pay for peace of mind in the application process.

I now work for a Canadian University and this is a common request. Records are held from the year dot in most cases.

Re: What does Transcript mean....?

Hi

I would phone the uni you went to and arrange to pick up the transcripts as you have enough time and then you are sure you have them.

I think the important thing to remember in this process is that you are trying to convince someone you dont know (and who works for the government) to let you into Canada and that person does not give a monkeys left gonad wheather they pick up the accept or reject stamp. Your job is to convince them, if they ask GET IT do you really want to take a chance after waiting all this time?

I work for the government and trust me if the paperwork is not right our policy is it goes in the bin. Government thinking in th UK is very much box ticking and i dont think the Canadians will be any different

Thats my pennies worth anyway

Pete

Re: What does Transcript mean....?

Well I have just learnt an important lesson as I see the NS to Scotland drive might be a bit long, maybe I should read all the replies first. Well that proves that having an engineering degree will not protect me from being a total numpty, well it was Wolverhampton Uni.

If the uni dont have a transcript any more get them to send you a letter to say that, so you can show you have tried and there is a legitimate reason for not having one.

I will get back in my box now

Re: What does Transcript mean....?

I couldn't get a proper transcript in time because they were overloaded with work at the start of new university year, but the admin person I spoke to sent me a letter saying how long I'd studied there, etc, and I sent that in with the initial application, then forwarded the transcript when it eventually arrived.

Re: What does Transcript mean....?

My Husband and I were both at the same uni at the same time (way more than 7 years ago and different subjects). They are providing a transcript for him (£10) but only have an incomplete record for my scores. They have agreed to send a sealed envelope containing a letter from them confirming my degree and the administrative reason for lack of full transcript, which I plan to provide with my certificate.

I wasn't happy when they first said they didn't have the records to provide me with a transcript, but at least I can show I tried and will have the letter direct from the uni to say so as well as the certificate.
