What do you NOT like about living in Canada

Re: What do you NOT like about living in Canada
I think it more evident that bored people are prone to bickering, irrespective of their national origins.
(And let's face it, most people only come to online forums when they have little else better to do!)
But with pronounciations..... which is correct for 'Lougheed'?
Low-ghee
or
Lock heed

I haven`t been called a bigot for at least 3 days (ignoring El-richo`s post above). Usually, it is because I say I believe something different to posters out east (you being the obvious exception). If I was calling for the death of all Catholics, I could accept it, not for stating that I don`t like root beer

Re: What do you NOT like about living in Canada
hi, we are currently living in Australia, moved here from the UK about 6 years ago and like many Brits we find the people very odd and racist (very). If you check out the Australia forum you will see that this is the general opinion amongst lots of other things. So we put on a thread about what people dont like about living in Oz and have been overwelmed with the replies!!! As we would like to consider Canada as a place to live, we thought we would put on the same thread.
Look forward to your comments, it will be interesting to compare what the Brits think of Canada compared to Oz!

Considering what I said and how I responded to Alex2201:

I'm sure I can think of many other Canadian dislikes.
I was clearly wrong and sanctimonious; I apologise to those I offended. I'll keep future comments to my area of expertise - 18th century Utopian satire and Airstrip One.

Wonderful - yet another bigot is added to the rank of righteous immigrant . . .

It must depend on your point of view then, as I didn't see that 'it was clearly a joke'. We had several complaints about that one from people that obviously thought it was serious too, but haven't yet received any about Alex2201's post.
My point was that dthomas has complained about Alex2201's post, failing to see any humour in it and accusing him of being a bigot. Which is fairly harsh considering he posted almost exactly the same comment earlier in the thread.

Re: What do you NOT like about living in Canada
It's interesting, between the time I first moved to Canada in 1997 as a student till now I find there is a big movement to be more American.
There use to be a lot more Canada vs USA, now more and more people seem to love all things American (Nascar, American Football, American Beer ect). I should mention I lived in the USA, and didn't like it very much.
Bacon, oh how I miss proper bacon (not the Tesco's crap either)...and pork with crackling. There is a place you can buy it in the states, but it costs a fortune...and even more of fortune to ship it up. I can't really get into streaky bacon. Proper ham, not the injected water logged crap. Really, I need a good butchers shop near me.
I agree with the driving thing, there is a very odd attitude driving here. I find it's another thing that has really changed. Now it is a lot more like the self centered, me me me, attitude you use to find in the States.
Not enough pedestrian crossings (I don't live in Toronto). Outside of town hall in Kingston, Ont there is what looks like a Zebra crossing, which I made the mistake of walking onto thinking that traffic had to stop. Ha!
I can't find any ruling about it in the drivers handbook. There are a few Courtesy Crossing, which means drivers can stop if they want...but they don't have to. So watch out if you are crossing! Just because one person on one side of the road has stopped. It doesn't mean that the person on the other will!
Oh, and in Ontario at least the fact that the lines on the road have no real meaning. I find that really, really odd. They are all just suggestions...very odd.
Every country has it's good and bad points, however all in all Canada is a great country.
Although it would be better if I had my PR visa...perhaps one day soon!
