They are doing a wide body experiment, hopefully it will work out, but it could backfire on them as well, time will tell.

What's with the FOUR bomb hoaxes in a week?

Someone putting the squeeze on them for announcing the new flights?

Why not just a horse's head in a bed?

Could it be the same people BA used - allegedly -a few years ago?

Up to 5 now, another one this evening, diverted to Victoria, BC.

WestJet flight from Las Vegas to Victoria receives bomb threat - British Columbia - CBC News

Officials say they are not taking the threat as credible but taking precautions and having a dog go through the plane.

I feel for Westjet with these bomb hoaxes, its got to be having a massive cost impact on them.
I hope they fly from YHZ to LGW but I bet that wont happen

I hope West Jet don't set a bad example on the flight meals so Air Transat stops serving the already tiny portion of food that they currently very generously do on their flights.

My guess it will be buy on board with Westjet. I don't see them offering complimentary meals, but who knows this is all a new adventure for them.

My husband's a frequent flyer Rewards Member and has yet to use Westjet's $99 companion flight within Canada and a free one to anywhere they fly so this is good news

I can't remember where I got this from but I'm sure I've read somewhere that there's a (Canadian?) rule where there has to be food included if the flight is more than 8 hours. Don't know where I read this maybe on an airline website.

I've read this rule somewhere too!

I can't imagine flying over the Atlantic without a meal or 2 to break up the monotony!

Well anything from the Ontario and East would be less then 8 hours, seem only Alberta and BC originating flights would be over 8 hours.

Winnipeg or Saskatoon might be over 8 non-stop as well.

Calgary and Edmonton on Air Canada schedule just around 8hr 40m so I'd imagine Winnipeg is below 8 hours.

Does stopping count? Westjet YYZ Glasgow is over 8 hours but makes 90 min stop in Halifax, so may not count, but do they offer free meal on that flight?

I heard that the international aviation rules require airlines to serve meals on any flights that are longer than 5 hours.
