Wes or ICES (Certification, ECE)

Hi which one is the best for evaluating your qualifications? I have an NVQ2 and NVQ3 in childcare.
I have a job offer in Canada in childcare but need to apply for the ECE licence so will need my qualifications assessing/converting.
so which one is best
thank you

You will need to have your qualifications evaluated by the Governing body in the Province that you anticipate moving to as it's a regulated profession which you will need certification / license for. Each Province will have specific instructions to obtain registration, so I'd suggest looking there first before sending anything (or paying for) assessment through WES or ICES - some will only accept evaluations from a specific company (and some may do it 'in house').

Although the links may be out of date on the website below, Google 'ECE internationally trained, equivalency' + the Province that you hope to move to.

I've moved your post as it's about certification for a job, not immigration.

Both of those companies are for accrediting academic qualifications and NVQ's are vocational so I'm not even sure if they would accept them tbh.

Have a look at IQAS. They maybe able to help you with the assessment. Their processing times are twice as long as WES though.

They do state on their website they don't assess vocational/trade/professional/non-academic qualifications though.

I thought that it is an NVQ it would be classed as an academic qualification albeit a vocational one.

I've spoken the IQAS recently about my wife's application so it maybe worth ringing them to clarify on this situation. I know that they are overwhelmed with applications. It seems everyone wants to go to Alberta!

No, NVQ's are normally classed as vocational, as above. They're usually 'on the job' rather than purely classroom based, so not deemed to be academic qualifications for credential assessment purposes. Worth a try for the OP, but I don't know of any ECA agencies that do assess NVQ's, they're normally just returned (see the immi section of the forum for relevant threads).

Re: Wes or ICES (Certification, ECE)

The middle initial should be a dead give away really. They're just a vocational qualification. They're not equivalent to any kind of academic diploma. I don't even think they're equate to a trade certification in fact.

Re: Wes or ICES (Certification, ECE)

As mentioned in my post upthread. The OP needs to look at the website of the Provincial body that Licenses ECE's for the Province they hope to move to and ascertain what their requirements are. Each Provincial Licensing body has different requirements for education equivalency for ECE certification and it's pointless going here and there trying to get the NVQ's evaluated without ascertaining their requirements first. Some do in-house evaluations, others have very specific ones they require you to use.

14. If I am internationally trained and have an assessment report from an agency other than World Education Services (WES), will the College accept this evaluation?
No. The College only accepts the ICAP Credential Evaluation Report from WES. We are unable to accept any other third-party evaluation report.

Re: Wes or ICES (Certification, ECE)

Hi thank you for all the replies.
I had them processed through ICES and have applied to the ECE licence people in British Columbia and am waiting for them to reply. I just wasn't sure if Wes was any different. The thing I've struggled with is getting my training institute to send program confirmation to the ECE as I did my train in 2000 so my original tutor didn't work at the college anymore. I think will affect me getting the licence so not sure where to go from here 🤔
Thanks again for the help much appreciated
