Hi guys

My partner and I are hoping to move to Kamloops and we currently run a web development business in the UK and would hope to carry on the business once we have moved. We generally like to team up with other graphic design agencies and other media companies as we only develop sites (PHP/MySQL/Javascript/HTML/CSS) not design them.

I was just wondering if there are any people on the forums who work in web development in Kamloops (or just to widen the circle a bit, BC)?

Are there many jobs available in the industry at the moment?

Do the companies you work for ever outsource projects? If so, do you think they would be interested in having a chat with us at some point with a view to a meeting in August when we are over for a recce?

I'm a marketing director (at the university in Kamloops), and responsible for on and offline strategies. We're in the middle of an RFP process for outsourcing some web dev. work, but also use local agencies such as the Pulse Group (pulsegroup.ca).

The major IT employer in Kamloops is BC Lotteries. I'd be surprised if they outsource anything due to the security implications. I know they offer some contract work though.

Kamloops is too small to offer a great deal in web dev opportunities, so businesses here that offer those services draw from a client base between Penticton and Prince George. I don't know of any that try and compete in the Vancouver market.
