Re: Weather/Climate in Nova Scotia
Today is a cracking day... lovely blue skies and, according to the car, 10 degrees. 10 flippin' degrees.

It's going to be the same tomorrow and Thursday. I have a horse so am an obsessive weather checker 😊

Having lived on the South Shore for 14 years, I can say, it's a mixed bag, there are good and bad winters, but if I can generalize for myself, I find the winters here too long for my liking.
I have decided to move away from here because of it. Physically my body is telling me that it can't handle the cold and my arthritis is getting really worse every year, so I am out of here..

Its easy to say NS and mean Halifax area. If you compare Yarmouth to Sydney there is a very different experience particularly in winter and Spring.

I have a bone to pick with you... you promised me sun and a bit of warmth today. It is mild enough but raining. In fact, funnily enough, it is doing that mizzling thing I waffled about earlier. Report card: must do better.

Oh I know. I feel let down too. I have deleted the accuweather app. Replacing it with the weather network. It's so overcast I just can't deal with it 😔

In the boot of the car I have two winter blankets and two mid-weight blankets. All of them muddy and smelly. It's not worth lifting them out because I don't know if they're going to the cleaners or back on the horses; at this time of year it's hard to tell.

I am from the north of England which has the grey depressing days you talk about. I can assure you that NS is not like the north of England, certainly where I live anyway. Like HoweFamily says, Drizzle is not in my NS experience. We moved out here at the beginning of this year from Essex so have experienced the winter here and whilst it is cold the sky is blue more often than not. I visited in the summer last year and it was beautifully hot.
Like anything, it is what you are looking for and what you are comparing against. Personally, after two months of nor'easters and winter storms I love it here, so roll on the summer.

I love the weather here. There are seasons! Back in Scotland the weather was mainly grey. Grey summer, grey winter, grey in between. Drizzle every other day. Never that cold, rarely that hot.
We live in the Valley in Nova Scotia where the weather is a little different than on the South Shore, but generally speaking the summers are blissful. Hot, blue skies, sunshine, the only downside is the humidity and that varies year to year. There is a lot of grape production for wine here - that should give you an idea of temperatures. The autumn is beautiful; crisp mornings and warm blue sky days. Winter is unlike anything I experienced in Scotland; properly cold (not going into positive digits for weeks is normal) and large quantities of snow. But Canadians are used to it so nothing grinds to a halt like in the UK, and with the blue sky it's all so pretty! (and even though we've been here 5 years now I still laugh out loud when I sink up to my knees in snow as I try to walk to the car. My husband not so much! ).
I think the OP will love the weather here

I'm from Scotland, I now live in Nova Scotia. The climate here is *hugely* different from the climate back in Scotland. They did not name the Province Nova Scotia because they thought it was the same as Scotland....

Dear Izzi81 - 'Back in Scotland the weather was mainly grey. Grey summer, grey winter, grey in between. Drizzle every other day. Never that cold, rarely that hot.' Yes!! Thank you. You know what I mean about that grey grey grey heavy sky ... all.of.the.time!!
I think the weather in NS sounds lovely - I love seasons (with Spring being my least favourite and Autumn my most favourite) so this could just work out. Mid 20s in the summer is perfect as we love hiking etc - much hotter and it would be unpleasant.
Am very reassured by the fact that those of you who live there and know what UK - and esp Scottish and North of England climate is like - say that it is better and brighter and bluer :-)
