We have landed!!

Hello everyone... Just wanted to share with you all that my husband and I landed in Halifax yesterday and my hubby is now a permenant resident!! Woohoo!!! :D

The process was actually a lot more pleasant than I thought it might be. Well I don't really know what we were expecting. We showed our passports at customs and then my husband was asked to stop at the immigration desk. He handed over his form to a very nice lady who asked 3 questions, took a photocopy of his passport, got him to sign the form, stamped it and welcomed him to Canada. We then went through to another room and handed over our goods to follow list where another nice lady asked us about when we planned to come over for good and told us some useful info on the actual shipping of our stuff. She gave my husband some info on his SIN card and health card and sent us on our merry way!

I am over the moon that everything has gone so smoothly. we sent our original application form to missassagua on April 30 2005 and that is us October 16 2005. Although jet lagged am off to celebrate! I may have already said this but thanks for the support we have received through this website! cheers!

Is that you all sold up in Scotland now, or are you going back to finish that off? Not the fun part, is it?!

Congratulations - Where are you heading to in NS? We are hoping to land before Christmas and with the three kids are glad that it all seems pretty straight forward.Did you need a permanent address in NS for the SIN card to be forwarded to? sorry so many questions.

Thanks for all the kind welcomes... :) I should really make my husband do the message writing as it is him that is now a permenant resident. I am a returning one! Anyway we are here in Nova Scotia until the 28th of October and then back to Scotland to do the next bit on getting our flat up for sale etc... we plan to resign from our jobs in march and head over here for good. We are actually tying it in with my parents move from N.S. back to Ontario. We will fly to Halifax and then will drive to Kingston Ontario. Road trip!!

We were in Halifax today to get J.P.'s SIN card and it was very straight forward. He filled out the application there and then and had to show proof of his landing and his foreign passport. It will be sent to my parents address in 3-4 weeks. You just need an address for it to be posted too. It actually has a bit on the application if it is being sent care of someone.

I won't be falling off the world as I am sure I will have more queries at some point that you wise people might have answers to. I will be crashing early tonight though as it has been non stop since we got here. good night!
