Hi, and welcome to BE.

Do you already have a visa enabling you to work and live in Canada? If not, then that needs to be your first step, although August is a bit optimistic as most take longer than that.

If you don't have a visa already, then what visa route were you planning on?

OK, have a read of this then and then hopefully you can figure out which visa route you would be eligible for - http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Quick_...an_Immigration

Personal question, but how old are you and how long have you worked as a qualified electrician for?

Maybe wait till the new year 2014, and do the Working Holiday Visa thing.

Shame they not doing a "Stay with friends and work Visa" I feel that would be very popular.
