Walk-in Clinic - Toronto
Hi Everyone,
I have been living in Toronto for 11 weeks now and I'm in need of a visit to the Drs to get a prescription.
I have health insurance but it doesn't cover check ups etc and I obviously dont have a health card.
I was wondering if anybody knew the charges for a walk in appointment and prescription fees?
Thanks in advance
Olivia

I think my drs.. Infinity health
charge between 75 and 90 for an appointment if you don't have Ohip
Prescription charges will depend on how expensive the drug is. You pay a dispensing fee plus the actual drug cost

I had to visit doctor in Brampton ON whilst waiting for my OHIP.
Cost me $45 for the actual app which wasn't bad but as stated medicine wasn't cheap from memory about 60 bucks for ear drops

$60 for ear drops! very excessive - I guess I'm used to £8 something on the NHS!
Mine is for the contreceptive pill so im assuming this will be expensive too.
Thank you both

It's worth checking around different pharmacies too as you can find quite a bit of variation. And go for generic version unless the doc can give you a card (courtesy of the drug maker) that will do the brand name for the price of the generic.

Generic BCPs are the same in all but pretty coloured pills and packaging and a damn sight cheaper. WICs often have samples.

Another option is going to a non-profit sexual health clinic. I work at one here in BC, not sure what they are called in Toronto, but we sell contraceptive pills cheaper than at the drug stores.

You do not need a referral or OHIP coverage to visit a clinic.

Have you applied for OHIP?

That's the surgery I've used recently for pneumonia. $90 per visit + meds...without OHIP. I like the fact they are open 7 days per week...walk ins are welcome.

Yeah I've never had trouble getting an appointment with my doctor either. Always within 48 hrs for non urgent stuff and she does one late evening a week as well.
Also she was instrumental in helping me get my aviation medical back
