Visit to canada questions

Hey i plan on coming to canada for one week in june and i was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions that ive not been able to find answers for on the internet

Info:- Im 18years old and i live in scotland. This is my first trip alone

1)Does my passport need to be older than 6months in order for me to visit (mine has just been renewed)

2)I was told that 18 year olds cannot book/stay in some hotels in canada..is this true?

The hotel i have picked is the marlborough which is in winnipeg..will i be allowed to book/stay there for one week?
(i cant get through to the hotel on the phone just now so thats why im posting this here)

And if you have stayed at this hotel before i would appreciate it if you could tell me if you enjoyed your stay and if it was clean

Thanks! :)

If you have a valid credit card there is no reason the hotel should refuse you accomodation.

It may well cause problems. You should have your aunt make the reservation online for the flight and hotel. If I was the reservations agent I would question your right to use your aunt's Visa card and particularly at the hotel the card will be required to run through their machine.

If you don't have your own credit card to use when you are at the hotel you should get your aunt to contact the hotel and usually you can do a preauthorized thing which involves filling in a form and sometimes sending a fax copy of the credit card. I've done it before when staying at a hotel for a work related reason but using a company credit card that I didn't have a copy of to take with me so it was done via a preauthorized thing. You can pay for everyhting up front but I think they worry about a room running up a large tab (eg food, movies, phone etc.) and not paying for it, hence the pre authorized credit card to automatically charge it to.

EDIT - sorry about the minor freak out :P. I called the hotel and i can reserve it now and just pay by cash when i get there..no need for a deposit now so its all worked out perfect. Thanks for all the help!

Also i contacted the hotel and they said that i could use my aunts credit card but when i arrive at the hotel they would need to fax a credit card authorization form to her so she could fill it in and send it back before i could get my room..but my aunt doesnt have a fax.

Does anyone know of a way i could get something similar to a credit card authorization form but i would be able to just hand in as soon as i got to the hotel?

You could ask your Aunt if she's make you an authorized user on her card, (as long as she trusts you not to go crazy with it:eek:) it's usually pretty straight forward.
