Since when was poutine Canada's national dish?

Haha, i saw an advert on TV the other day that i thought was a political "vote for me" type affair. I laughed so hard when it turned out to be a "vote to have Poutine Canadas national dish". It was a serious advert too.

I've still never tried it. A place recently opened nearby that sells "Food from Montreal" so might pop in some time and risk it.

I'd frequently have cheesy chips and gravy down the Bigg Market when living in Newcastle after a good night out. I can't imagine there is that much different that would warrant it being a national dish...

I'd much rather Candied Salmon be Canada's dish

Chili cheese fries was one of the best things about living in the US. Poutine seems a poor substitute.

Lots of places sell chilli cheese fries in Canada well at least in my area.
I guess Wendys running an ad campaign to make poutine the national dish isnt helping. I havent signed the poutition.

Have you seen the nutrition facts on Wendy's poutine?

That's a ***k of a lot of salt, not to mention the calories.

Flights start next Wednesday. Doesn't seem to have had much impact on the Summer prices though.
