Hi All,
Waiting now for TWP and then off !!!!
I have job lined up in Victoria, BC, and will need to rent accom.
Any advise?

maybe start looking now to get some ideas..of just how difficult it is to rent down there....

you can look at..kijiji and craigs list for starters....ummmm

we found it realy difficult and ended up buying straight up when we moved here from kelowna. husband works in victoria and has an hr commute each day each way to work. so far he isnt' complaining about it.

I live in Victoria BC so if I can be of any help please let me know. You could look online at The Times Colonist, its the local paper and has lots of listings for rentals. Sorry dont know the website but just google it. What kind of space do you need? If you let me know I will look out for you.

You could try this website, http://brownbros.com/ it looks pretty good and has all the areas in and around Victoria. We have not rented ourselves but you might find it useful.

We just moved here from living in Alberta for the past 18 years and love it! Wish we had moved here sooner!!

Thanks everybody.

I shall be staying for 3months alone before the family comes over.
I don't know wether to get just a cheap room for myself at first and spend some time looking or get the 3 bed that i will need after the gang come over.
I have looked at where i will be working, just off central saanich road.
Don't know what public transport like otherwise.

Public transport is brilliant, buses run about every 6 mins... hubby now travels to work on the bus, very simple and easy he loves it, his journey is about 20 mins.
Not sure exactly about the area you will be working in, this might help

it is difficult to know what to do at first isn't it.....however what an exciting time for you and your family....finding somewhere for 3 months may be a bit of a challenge....one thing tho it sounds like you are walking into a job..so that part is easy for you.....when are you heading over here..?:)

Definately get a cheap VERY short term rental (motel?) and then look when you are here. DON'T commit yourself to anything longer term until you have actually seen it! I speak from experience:eek:

Should be over end of June early July.
I was thinking of getting a cheap base for the 3 months, myself.
Gives me plenty of time then to look in more depth for family.
Why am I so nervous all of a sudden?

cos it is HAPPENING~~..after the decision making...then the applying etc..etc..it is finaly happenin!! i think it's perfectly normal to be at least a tad nervous....and maybe try saying.nahh i'm not nervous..i'm excited!..hehee...good luck and all the best to you and your family..:)

Hi Maple Leaf, apologies for the delay in getting to this thread but we have been over to Maple Ridge for the weekend. Our lad was involved with basketball over there. Glad to see you have been helpful offering great advice as usual.:)
