Still have to have the exam, and she's required to have blood tests every 6 months, which is fine as the condition(s) change, so better to make sure the doses are still appropriate.

our boxer had a gum boil removed - $380 - vet wanted to do all sorts of wonderful blood tests and gumf which would've took the bill to around $800, told him just get the boil off!

in the uk we used to get prescription only bits from a website called vetmedic, prescription was a fiver from vets and stuff was easily half price, and now they do all the drontal, frontline which for 2 burly boxers was pricey from shops / vets, but vetmedic very cheap but dread to think what they'd charge for postage to nb, they do horse medication too now.

dog ins - sounds bad but not got it yet, too scared to look into it cos of prices compared to what we paid in uk!

A friend recently up from Calgary has a French mastiff which got a bit tangled up with a Porky - over 100 quills.

she took him to the local vet near us and he charged $180 for the sedation and removal, which apprantly would have been over $350 at her local one.

If you want to go the really cheap route if you run into this issue, may I suggest whiskey and some pliers.
