I forgot about that tonight and found myself in a jam coming back in to Vancouver. It's 2 lanes to the North Shore and 1 back in.

Price will vary in a cab depending on the road conditions at the time. OP could always ask a cab company for a quote. I think my Aunt & Uncle (and friends) paid $80 once but that was before the zones.

Another thing you could look at is hiring a car from Enterprise on Marine Drive. It's just on the other side of the bridge from the airport and will probably cost less. They add on an extra fee if you're coming from the airport but I think it's maybe $10.

Do you live in Canada? If there's only 2 of you then car2go might be an option. Get a hotel shuttle bus at the airport, pick up a car and drop it at HSB. This method isn't guaranteed as you can only reserve a car 30 mins in advance if they're around.

Perhaps everyone needs to bear in mind that TJ knows their son and knows he can't handle going on public transport, so suggesting that they go on transit/buses/trains is a bit pointless (though handy for others researching similar trips).
