Vancouver here we come!
I've spent the past week chained to the keyboard reading other peoples posts about how difficult and how long it was taking to get to canada. Our situation is a bit different. I've been married for 14 years to an original Vancouverite! He flew over when he was 19, met me (I was 17!) and never returned.
The option of living in Canada was always a big turn off. Too far away from my family, :( and too close to his :frown:. But suddenly things seem different. England is going down hill fast, from the rubbish everywhere, to the M25, to the gardens that you cant swing a cat in, but pay the earth for, not to mention the increase in class sizes, and the diminishing NHS. YEP, we all know it, the list goes on. BC looks like a dream, and whats more we can just GO. No points, no visas. The house is on the market, so watch this space!. |

Great stuff. Good luck and best wishes in your emigration journey:thumbsup:
Where abouts in Sussex are you? We came over to Vancouver Island from Eastbourne. |

Hi twinkles
Don't forget though unless you already have your paperwork sorted out you will not be able to work or claim medical, even though I'm a Canadian citizen my wife's PR took about 16mths to come through, that's a long time to be on holiday. |
Re: Vancouver here we come!
Good point, hubby doesn't think its too much of an issue though, (apart from the medical bit)I don't work and don't intend to. We have 3 children all born in England, so the chidren and i will need to get our meds. But I think thats it. Tell me if i'm wrong?

We live in Steyning, in West Sussex. (Really nice place, if you know it!) My parents live in Willingdon and most of the family are in the area.;)

Yes I know Steyning and Willingdon. Just envisaging the drive through Polegate, up Willingdon hill, down to Willingdon roundabout and then looking at the traffic to decide what exit to take into the town centre. I have heard that the garden centre by the roundabout has closed and a block of assisted flats are being built there. As you can tell I've done that drive to many times:D
That garden centre was on the corner of Upper Kings Drive, which is the road that my parents live on! :) I know what you mean about the traffic. They don't call it 'gods waiting room' for nothing. ;) |

Well there you have it, just shows what a small world it really is! Just remembered we stayed at the Chalk Farm Hotel once for our anniversary. Nice place and nice location.
If the garden centes gone does that mean that the petrol station has gone as well? When we lived in Hurst Road that was the one we always used, after so many coupons we got a free video. Better than a glass I suppose. |

Thanks for the chance to reminisce. I did go back this year for a holiday but didn't travel along that stretch of road so didn't see any of the changes (stayed with my parents in Horam near Heathfield and the couple of times we went into Eastbourne we went along the new bypass, quicker but a bit boring). Only found out about the garden centre from the Eastbourne Herald online (still follow news and sports). First round proper of the FA Cup this weekend. Come on Eastbourne Borough! I remember when they were Langney Sports. Still glad we moved here though;) |
