Vancouver Haze...
This is some of the worst pollution I've seen in a city, even including Bangkok and Shanghai. The north shore mountains have all but disappeared from view in the miasma. Was going to run around the park today - but not doing it in this smog, would be like smoking 20 bensons and I prefer to do that over a pint. Greenest city on earth? Well if they ever manage to put the bloody forest fires out maybe.

Re: Vancouver Haze...
Forest fires, 'tis the season.
Alberta is on pace apparently to have the most forest fires in one season ever and we've loaned a whole pile of our forest fire fighting force to B.C. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/sto...es-record.html Edit: I see we've loaned 93 firefighters hardly a whole pile as I stated above.:o http://www.srd.alberta.ca/Newsroom/SRDStories.aspx |

I took this about seven years ago in Calgary when it was very smokey. http://www.pbase.com/hangman/image/20301820.jpg No it wasn't photoshopped to change the sky colour. :p |

Kelowna is no better although we don't seem to have the smell as yet. Today was actually fairly clear compared to last few days, but not sure it will last.

Re: Vancouver Haze...
i am quite liking the crazy haze.
it is still miles better than the filthy treacle i used to see hanging over the eastend of London. and that 'camp fire odour' is no bad thing. |

This is nothing compared to 2003. There's rain forecast over the weekend so that may help. Forest fires are very common for this time of year - on average there are something like 1500 fires over the course of the season. |
