Validity of Police Certificate
Hi all,
I am a currently in Canada on a student authorization for a two-year graduate program and I intend to apply for my permanent residency from Buffalo, NY. However, I would like help with answers to these fewquestions; 1) The Buffalo Visa Office Specific instructions state that "Police Certificates must have been issued within the last six months". My home country issues Police Certificates that are valid for only three months, I have one issued from there in January 2002 after which I have since lived in Canada which should be valid till March 2002, but due to certain documents I need to wait for to complete my application package, I might not get to send the application to Buffalo until April or May 2002. Would this Police Certificate issued in January 2002 still be valid to meet the Buffalo office requirements by that time or would I have to make another expensive trip to my country to obtain a new one? I'm baffled because I am not sure if it is the issuing date that is important or the lenght of validity of the Certificate by the country issuing it. Could the experts or anyone kindly help? Aitken |
