Default Vacuum Cleaners HELP!

My beloved Dyson has finally given up the ghost after 14 months working off the transformer.

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced decent vacuum cleaner. Don't want to spend more than $150-$200 as we are looking at getting Central Vac when we build next year.

Don't really want to get another Dyson as so expensive here, I found it amusing that they had them all locked away in a cage in Walmart

Ideas for one that does a good job at a snip of the Dyson price???

(We don't have pets and need one that does carpet and hardwood)

We bought the cheapest one from Walmart - $50, we have laminate throughout and I have used on carpet in a previous home and although it's small and noisy and needs emptying lots it does a pretty good job!

I think I want a roomba thing next time around when we have more carpet, so it can get to spaces under the bed easily.

Oh and we do a dog that you could call a bit fluffy

I use one of the Bissell hepa filter vacs - reasonable price. Also the Hoover windtunnel ones can be had for under 200 at Sears or Cad Tire. Stay away from Dirt Devil - rubbish.

I didnt think Roombas handled carpet too well? Not dog hair coated carpet anyway?

Yeah, it was a Hoover Windtunnel... thought that was a bargain - if I was in the market to replace I would've picked one up.

They're great on hardwood too. Our Pug sheds like a mother****er so it's perfect for keeping on top of that daily.

If it is for only a short time, go to one of the vacuum cleaner repair shops, they usually sell refurbished vacuums cheap.

Yes they do. Maybe not as effective on deep 1970's shag carpet though. Other than that, it works very well on our carpeted and non carpeted areas.

Plus i get extra time through the day from not having to bust my balls vacuuming.
