I was delighted with how quickly it arrived. It dispatched on the 9th and arrived today. Most of my articles travelling through Canada Post just in Canada don't even arrive that quickly!

My kindle is still set to my uk amazon, but I have bought from .co.uk, .ca and .com
Problems arise if you have as issue, things bought on one site are not shown on the others, so you have to remember which one you ordered thru.

I've had some charge extra customs, some not and one cancelled my order because being in Vancouver Washington, they refused to post all the way (?!?) to Canada!

The biggest bugbear I have is not being able to buy items on amazon.com which are unavailable on Amazon.ca.

Mind you the price hikes on .ca compared to .com are ridiculous.

Why not, I do it often and have the items shipped to Canada. For the few items manufacturers won't allow shipped across the line, e.g. Epson, I have them shipped to the US and pick up from there. Have ordered software downloads from .com as well.

Costco won't allow CAD members to purchase online at all from the US site, even if it is shipped to the US.

Amazon.com (and .co.uk and .de etc) have very recently tightened up on what they will ship abroad.

The list of what they WILL ship is now a lot shorter than they list of what they won't ship.

Most IT and all software downloads won't work any more (unless you appear to be in the US).

For example:

"Buyers outside the U.S. cannot purchase the following types of items from sellers: video games, toy and baby items, electronics, cameras and photo items, tools and hardware, kitchenware and housewares, sporting goods and outdoor equipment, software, and computers."

It doesn't ALWAYS hold true however - I got Corel Aftershot Pro for $10 in November...

I just received a Speck cover for my Macbook from Amazon.com, but I had to have it sent to a forwarder (Shipito.com) in the USA though. Still 50% cheaper than buying in Canada even with the handling charges...

I don't order from Amazon as much as I used to, but I don't see too many differences when I do.

Sometimes UK is cheapest, sometimes USA and sometimes Canada.

That odd situation still exists whereby something can be ordered via the Canada site (marketplace) at a domestic shipping rate when it's coming from the USA (and even the same seller) whereas the shipping rate multiplies if ordered from .com.

Unless there's a big difference in item price quoted, it's always worth going through the motions of ordering on all three sites to compare total price. Quite often what appears the best price at first glance can be beaten once the total is compared.

Uh yes, you were going on about how it happens with UPS, my point was it happens with USPS stuff as well through Canada Post. And thinking about it, there was no duty because of NAFTA, but I did get hit with GST and the Canada Post brokerage fee.

What the hell was it, wish I could remember.

the funniest situation I've been through with Amazon wes with my kindle. I broke so I phoned customer support and was told $80 for a replacemnt as mine was out waranty. I said nevermind I've got a kobo i can use (won in a prize draw). Costomer support put me on hold then came back and offered me a free replacement.

I got the free unit then 2 weeks later got an e-mail telling me I was being credited $20 for overpaid duty charges. New kindle and some spending cash for books - Result
