Default Unfreezing State Pension??

Hi Guys - you may be interested to know that Annette Carson (who is living in South Africa) is having her appeal to unfreeze overseas pensions heard by the House of Lords today. If she is successful it could affect some 500,000 expats living overseas. As an example "some of those affected include people in their 80s who receive pensions of £14 a week, whereas they would get £140 a week if they had remained in the United Kingdom or any of the countries where state pensions are uprated in line with inflation".

A report is on the Daily Telegraph website (www.telegraph.co.uk/money). She is being supported by the Canadian Alliance of British Pensioners (www.britishpensions.com) and has already been to court many times over this.

Good luck to her - could have a fantastic outcome for all those expats living on (or will be in the future) a frozen pension in Canada ......

Jen

The case is being followed on this page, as well as in the expat Telegraph online http://www.britishpensions.org.au/ca..._law_lords.htm
