My wife brought 6 months supply from the UK since it's around $30 a month here in Vancouver or something like that. I could be wrong as i generally switch off during important conversations.

When I got my first pack, with no insurance, it cost me $28. That was back in 2007 though. Now I am lucky to have insurance through work, but they only cover 3 months at any one time......

Another unexpected cost - Physiotherapy. I have needed 2 different types, even given a prescription for both by my doctor. One lot costs $120 a session and I should go a minimum of once a month, the other cost $80 for initial assessment then $70 or $75 for each appointment there after. Was going 3 times a week for that at one point!!!!! I am tryng to claim the less expensive stuff back on my insurnace, just got to wait and see what they will cover.

Also don't under estimate the cost of restocking your pantry with all the basics you used to have. The same for getting yourself started with cleaning supplies as well.

Physio is an issue, my insurance only covers $500 a year, you can appreciate that at $65 a session it doesn't take too long to burn through that...

If it was work related I could claim on WSIB, if it was a car accident I could claim on the insurance I guess... but its just me and old age OHIP used to cover physio and eye exams, back in the 90s

We just had a property tax bill of over $3000 (in Ontario). And insurance this year (newly arrived) for a basic minivan for me and OH (both early 40s with more than 10 years claim free) is close to $3000.
Food costs a fortune, hockey registrations for the kids cost a fortune, meals out cost a fortune.
But I still wouldn't change a thing

My weekly supermarket bill for 2+2 is about $150 or less on average. I wouldnt call it a fortune. However, some shops are a lot more expensive than others. Hockey is undoubtedly expensive, no wonder so many parents try and avoid it. Enrolment is dropping is my understanding. Anything with ice time tends to be expensive other than the free skates.
