UK Taxes

I have a question for you and I really hope you can assist?

At the time I went through my immigration I had no debts or taxes owing to the government. It now turns out (nearly two years on) that I 'may' be liable for some government taxes if this is that case does this affect me in Canada. Also can the UK government do anything to make me pay the taxes in Canada, will this affect my Canadian record?

Please get back to me ASAP!

Thanks in advance

What do you mean by 'may'?

Either you owe taxes or you don't. Surely the first step is to find out whether you do or not.

The Government could obtain a judgment against you in England and then seek to enforce this judgment in Canada. It will be relatively simple for them to do this.

It depends what treaty you are talking about. There is a Convention Between the Government of Canada and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland that is commonly called the Tax Treaty. Unsurprisingly, it is all about taxes.
