UK Sparks In Canada

Hi
I’m looking to move to Canada as a skilled worker.
Currently Im working in London as an electrician. I went to see the immigration lawyer and he suggested that I need to obtain a RED SEAL certificate before applying and entering the pool.
Ive got almost 10 years of work experience and my qualifications are C&G 2330 Level 2&3, initial verification and periodic inspection and testing, NVQ Level 3.
Anyone working in Canada as sparky and could help me with how and where to obtain the Red Seal Cert Please?

Hi, do you need to sit your red seal exam prior to getting a job or can you do it after you arrive in Canada (Alberta)
Thanks x

There is no Red Seal exam or certificate. There is a provincial exam, some of which are Red Seal endorsed. You would need to apply to a provincial training authority to have your work experience accepted (9000 hours and you need proof of this). If accepted, you can then apply to challenge the provincial exam. If you are successful in this, then a Red Seal endorsed qualification is recognised across Canada.
You can take the exam before or after entering Canada as an immigrant. It has to be taken in Canada though. An electrician, without the qualification, can only work under the supervision of a qualified electrician.

Sorry to hijack this post, going on from the above. Does anyone know if the provincial exam has a practical element or is it all book and paper based?
