UK Grade 12 equivalent?

Could someone please clarify for me what the UK equivalent is for Canada's grade 12. Is it GCSEs or A-Levels?

many threads on BE with the same/similar questions

Approx ....

Grade 12 academic level marks above 65% (the university entrance level subjects) = A's/A level

Grade 11/lower pass mark grade 12 = GCSE with 60% or better

Thanks, I'm a UK student thinking about studying in Canada. The universities admission office has said that for an international student coming from the UK, I will need to have finish 'grade 12 graduation' and provide 'grade 12 transcripts'.

So I'm pretty sure they mean A-Levels but I haven't been able to get them to clarify as I've had one person from their admissions office tell me GCSEs and another tell me A-Levels.

I appreciate the help. :)

It would be the same requirement as a UK university. Grade 12 is higher than GCSE.

They do mean A levels. You might find if you study in Canada, dependent on subject you could receive university credits for your A levels. Grade 12 is above GCSE but below A level, with some A levels being more similar to the first year of University in Canada

As a BC teacher and someone that has taught A levels in the UK, I don't believe that there is a straight forward answer to this question. Generally speaking A levels and grade twelve (someone that has pursued an academic path) are equivalent. However your best bet is to contact the university or college that you plan to attend. Many universities will require a grade twelve English course and a senior level math course. Not all A level students will have this. GCSE's are usually equivalent to grade 10 in BC.
