Default UK Drivers Record (Northern Ireland)

Hi Folks,

I am trying to get auto insurance sorted out over here in Ontario and the company I am dealing with (Johnson Auto Insurance) will recognize my UK drivers experience but is asking for my drivers abstract. I was originally told that my paper licence counter part from the U.K and a letter from my insurance company in the U.K would suffice but now they appear to be looking for more information.

1. Can I obtain this online?
2. Has anyone else had this scenario?

Regards

Farmboy

What about ye?

https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

This prints off your driving record and was sufficient for my broker here in Halifax.

Its been a wee while since I heard that one. I dont have my plastic licence number just my paper part and when I enter that number it doesnt work?? I wonder if there is a difference between the English mainland and the Northern Ireland number?
Our plastic parts were taken off us when we arrived in Canada!!

yes lad! What's the craic
We got this from dvlni- costs £7.50. It's called a 'certificate of entitlement'. We spoke to a lovely lady from home at DVLNI, paid over the phone, and she emailed this to us as a pdf attachment. It's the equivalent of a driver's abstract. We are with Johnston too and they accepted this. If you can quote your driving license number it's useful, but they will be able to find you with your name/last address.

Fresh and well your looking Shirley!!!

Thanks for the info. I have been on hold here for about 40 mins #losingthewill
Hopefully I will get sorted out. I could have strung the boy up I was talking to @ the insurance company yesterday LOL.

I will get a yarn with you soon.

Thanks

My brother comes off with things (like declaring himself "scundered" the other day on Skype) that I notice I don't use any more. Still have my accent, thank goodness.

If you exchanged your licence then the authorities of that Province will have informed DVLA/NI equivalent that your licence has been exchanged, so the online licence checker won't work (since your UK licence has been suspended). If you return and exchange it back you'll have a licence with the same number re-issued and be able to use it again.
