I initially spoke with them at the Expo in Dublin and have now sent over the necessary documents for an LMO, assuming its favourable (looking at the criteria I am pretty hopeful) Tarpon have said they will be requesting a heap more documents (dont know what?) to allow their lawyers to sort a TWP for me

How far through are you? Where are you based?

i sent over documents for a AITassesment to prove i served my time as a sparks.also sent copies of passport and a photo(passport one).i believe there is a backlog for this application.could be another month before i hear anything.dont know where they will send me as i have no experience in oil/gas plants.they said they need commerical sparks but dont know how long i would get work out of that.i met them too at the expo in dublin.i believe where ever they send me it will be remote as i think there finding it hard to fill those positions.

Looks like you are maybe not so interested in Calgary now but I would say 1500-1800 and you would get something decent though the lower for a townhouse and upper for detached.

On the fuel thing - yes it is cheap but must compare apples to apples. Fuel here is weak, the budget stuff the people quote the prices on is only 87 RON.

We are looking to move out of our rental and compared to when we we looking this time last year (we kept an eye out before we came over) there isn't that much available at the moment.

Rents in Calgary seem to have taken a bit of a hike and some places are wanting $1800 and above and they are horrible. Our search continues :)

If you want something gorgeous expect to pay well over $2000.

True you wont get much change out of $2k for a nice place in a nice area in Calgary..as for petrol the price has come down to 96.9 here was 117 in the summer..still i dont find it any cheaper than the UK as the cars are no where near as fuel efficient and finding a diesel is hard as they are pretty sparse..im looking at BMW 3 series diesel to swap my edge in for..save me sum bunce.
