The missus drives a 1987 Land Cruiser with a stick shift or the lesbo-chic Honda Element. I don't think she's a fan of Beetles.

Good choice with the landcruiser :thumbup: Will cop a look when I come out to visit anyways :) may even hire something stupid myself at the airport for the weekend.

The LC is holding up remarkably well. The OH's mother bought it new when they moved from NC to Utah and needed something for snow. Later they moved to the desert and it was only used for offroading for years, it's been up and down all the well known trails in CO, UT and AZ. We drove it up here a couple of years ago and mostly use it to go the feedmill and the dump. It truly drives as well over frozen ploughed fields as on roads. The snag is that, on a good run, with the hubs unlocked and in 2WD high, it can sometimes achieve 14 mpg.

cheers everyone for ya replys. erm yeah im not into kittin my cars up not japanese onse anyway maybe a good dodge charger (am i aloud to like american cars when im moving to canada ? lol) yeah nice car on the first page btw my mum would love to drive it haha i hope it has a passenger seat and a boot for my sports stuff haha. well yeah cheers like ive said for everyone helpin out so far .kurt.

is car insurance a rip off until you are 25?
im 24, and quite fancy leasing a nissan 350z when i get over there.
but i think a push bike is more reasonable!

We're paying $1100 for a 4.0 auto Jeep Grand Cherokee, the girl told us that price would be the same on practically all cars including V8s and all which we priced, my partner is only 22. It's when you take out a full insurance cover (full comp) that it varies greatly and could be expensive as third party is pretty much just looking at the person whereas full cover looks at the car and the person so can be expensive. Best just to take a list of cars you are interested in when you come here and get qoutes from insurance places. Before you come bring letters to state proof of no claims and no accidents from UK insurance companies.

Also much like finance, I'm not sure you will be able to lease a car at the beginning as they don't like coming near you with no Canadian credit history.

Unlike the UK the model of car makes little difference to the price of insurance in Ontario, it's all expensive but a V8 relatively less so than a 4 cylinder. When I went from a V8 Mustang to a 5 cylinder Beetle the insurance went up; the age of the car mattering more than the halving of horsepower.
