TWP and dependant children

Hi everyone

This is my first post (so go easy on me!)

I am currently in the process of agreeing an intra company transfer from the UK to Toronto and I'm trying to do as much research as I can.

I would imagine that my company will apply for a TWP for me and then go down the PR route at a later date. If I'm accepted onto this visa, will my wife get an open working visa? And I have two children aged 4 & 11, the younger one I believe doesn't need a study visa?? But my older one does? Also I read somewhere that they could also ask for upto $10,000 in school fees every year! Has anyone come across this in Ontario?

Any help appreciated! Also any thoughts on Burlington, Oakville and Waterdown as potential areas to settle?

Thanks
Tez

If your job NOC number falls in skill level 0, A or B then spouse is eligible for an open work permit. If applying for work permits at the Port of Entry then children will be issued visitor records that allows them to attend school.
They will need study permits if everything is done in the UK.
Make sure all passports will be valid for duration of stay otherwise documents only issued based on validity of passports at time presented.

Many thanks for the reply, my occupation fits into those categories so it would seem we should be ok?

Has anyone any advice/experience of Waterdown, ON as a place to live?

Waterdown is lovely, but there is a lot of new build there, both housing and retail. My son is head bartender at the Keg there :)

There is little or no public transport, only one bus that runs into Hamilton during daylight hours, so be aware!

You can read more about Waterdown here: http://www.waterdownbia.ca/ and here: http://www.waterdownontario.ca/ lots of photos here

There are a couple of real estate agents on BE that operate in that area too, who can probably help you quite a bit with any questions about housing (rentals or purchase).

:)
