Tv in Vancouver

hello all, quick question . .

Hubby is at the rental property, which we will probaly stay in til spring. . . there is a TV and the place has wireless internet .... but no cable or land line . .

How does one go about getting basic channels- am guessing they dont have terrsetrial types like the BBC, ITV we get over here when you plug in the tv . .any suggestions? is there a free view type thing we can get to keep us going til we get to a more permanent address.

or if we get cable is it linked to that address for a minimum time or can we take it with us??
thanks . . .

You probably can get terrestrial TV - but that will need an aerial, is there one on the property? Probably wouldn't want to pay for one to be fitted on a rental? Can probably pick up terrestrial TV from Seattle with a suitable aerial....

with rabbit ears you should get cbc(channel 2) global(8)A channel(17)cbc french(26) ctv(32) and M channel(42) plus cbc and ctv broadcast over the air high definition channels 2.1 and 32.1 respectively.
You might also be able to pick up some US stations inarticular KVOS Bellingham

Actually that would probably work because the signals are very strong beamed form Mnt Seymour.Better still spend 19.99 at Future Shop..RCA indoor antenna.

Try out all types of antennas from the cheapest to the most expensive.
I got very clear receptions on Kvos,Chek TV (from VI)and City TV.
A bit snowy CBC and Global TV
I got mine from London Drugs ,talked to the sales rep. about
my intention of trying out their antennas and got the ok to
bring them back in good condition within 14 days.So I bought
the most expensive and mid range from them.In the
end the mid range won with stereo sound.

That was 7 years ago and I am still enjoying free movies
from from Kvos and City TV.
Get a good quality cable that connects the tv to the antenna.
Also get a library card and you'll get alot of British series and movies
from all the libraries in Van.Burnaby too has good selection of DVDs.

You can check online, but as far as I know the account is with you so you can take it with you or change as necessary, but if there is no cable laid, you'd better check first with the landlord. Pretty unusual here though for there to be no outlet. How is he making out otherwise?
