Trouble out West?

Just interested in hearing how the economy is affecting temporary workers in the Western Provinces, particularly Calgary.

I keep reading how foreign temp workers are being affected but haven't seen too much noise on this forum.

Anyone?

Yes it is affecting the temp worker in Calgary, just like anywhere else. Its harder for the temp worker as they then have to try and find another company who is willing to take them on and to do that paperwork for them.

I know one family in the UK who had employment arranged and rented there house out, have just received an email from the company in Calgary withdrawing the job offer.

Another family arrived in Calgary last month and the plumbing company that sponsored them have now said there is no work !!!!!!!!

hello all
i would say if you are coming to alberta for construction jobs dont bother this summer, things have slowed here big time, and i work in construction, housing starts are down 66% since last year. If you can stay i england until the summer hopefully things might have stabilized a bit, especially with US stimulas package being passed which affects canadian companies a great deal the economy might go back to normality.People with TWP will be the first to be layed off.
