Travel insurance for my 92yr young mom from Scotland to Canada
I was hoping that someone could help me find travel insurance for my mom. I realize her age is an issue but she's in good health.
I've been trying to find an insurance company in Canada that might cover mom coming from Scotland to Ontario Canada.
she's been coming over for many years, but it's the cost that's extremely high. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks so much,
Jim

Welcome to BE Heliscot
You have posted your question regarding travel insurance in the Welcome Inn which is strictly for introductions. Since you are in Canada, you question should have been posted in the Canadian forum. I have asked a moderator to move your post over there for you. It is wonderful that she can still travel such a long distance to come and visit you. I hope you find insurance that is adequate and affordable for both her and you. Perhaps an expat there can help you with suggestions on which travel company their UK family and friends have used when visiting them in Canada.
Here is the link for the Canadian forum: http://britishexpats.com/forum/canada-56/
We also ask that you have a read of the Forum Rules which are short. http://britishexpats.com/site-rules/

Unless the rules have changed, this wasn’t true in my case. We brought my M-I-L over for many years at Christmas time and I always bought insurance for her from Blue Cross here in Canada. We ceased doing this in her mid 80s after I learned of an unsavory situation faced by a friend doing an identical thing.

Would this unsavory situation also be one that the OP's mom might face?

Well, I am into my 70's now and am in pretty good health but do have some pre existing conditions, as many do when they get to where I am. Thoughts of a trip back to the UK are pretty much out of the question re health insurance ....so will probably limit travel to within Canada....or just stay home with my dogs....which I would probably enjoy more, for a lot less!
